The short version
We collect what a verified, high-trust dating service needs and nothing else. We never sell your data, never show ads, and never put your government ID on your profile. Two things are retained deliberately and are spelled out below: identity documents (while your account exists, for safety and manual verification) and a hashed fingerprint of banned accounts (forever, so removal is permanent).
What we collect
- Account & profile: email, phone, name, birthday, gender, photos, prompts, interests, height, dealbreakers, city.
- Identity verification: your government ID image, a live selfie, and the ID's name, date of birth, height, number, and issuing state.
- Messages: every message you send and receive on the platform.
- Billing: processed by our payment provider; card numbers never touch our servers.
- Founding waitlist: email plus the optional demographics you give us.
Biometric consent
Verification compares your live selfie to your government ID and to your profile photos. That is biometric processing, and we only do it with your consent, which we ask for when you upload your documents. We use the comparison solely to verify you are who you say you are; we do not use biometric data for anything else, and we never sell or share it for marketing. You can decline, but membership requires verification.
What we keep, and for how long
- ID and selfie images: kept in a private, access-audited vault while your account exists. They are never shown to other members and never rendered on any profile. They exist so we can manually verify members, resolve identity-mismatch reports, and assist law enforcement in a safety emergency. They are deleted 90 days after your account closes.
- Ban fingerprints: if an account is denied at verification or terminated for cause, we permanently keep a one-way cryptographic hash of the identity (plus the email and phone used), so banned members can't simply re-enroll. The raw name, date of birth, and ID number are not recoverable from this fingerprint.
- Messages: retained, including after account closure, for trust-and-safety: they are the evidence base for peer juries (who see only redacted versions) and for emergency legal requests.
- Everything else: deleted or anonymized when your account closes.
Who can see what
- Other members see your profile, never your documents or contact details.
- Peer jurors see only PII-redacted conversation evidence.
- Trust-and-safety staff can access vault records; every access is written to an append-only audit log.
- Vendors: payments (Stripe), identity verification, email delivery, and AI moderation providers process data only to provide those services.
- Law enforcement: we disclose records in response to valid legal process, or when we believe someone is in danger.
Your choices
- Edit or remove profile content anytime.
- Close your account: profile data is removed, and the retention rules above govern documents and messages.

VettedMatches is for adults 18 and over; we do not knowingly collect data from minors. If this policy changes we update this page and the date above.
